Thanks for visiting Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism. If you’ve got a question about something on the website, a correction, a suggestion for a page, or a general enquiry about travelling in the region, we’re glad to hear from you. Below you’ll find how to reach us, what we can and can’t help with, and how to write a message we can answer quickly.
How to reach us
Two ways to get in touch.
Phone
03462559008 (international format +92 346 2559008)
Use the phone for short, general enquiries. Calling from outside Pakistan? Dial the international format. Calls may not always be answered straight away. If you can’t get through, email is the most reliable option.
esd.shigri110@gmail.com
Email works best for anything detailed — corrections, source links, questions about a specific page, or anything that needs a considered answer. It also gives us a written record, so we can check details properly before we reply.
These are the only contact details for this website. If someone gives you a different number or address and says it belongs to us, or offers to take a booking or payment “on behalf of” this site, treat it with caution. We don’t take bookings or payments at all.
What we can help with
We’re an information site, so the most useful things we can do relate to the content.
Corrections and updates
These are the messages we value most. Mountain travel information goes out of date quickly — a road is rerouted, a fee is revised, a guesthouse closes, a festival date moves. If something on a page looks wrong, tell us. Include the page address and, ideally, a link to an official or first-hand source that shows the correct information.
Questions about a page
If a guide is unclear, or you’re not sure how two pages fit together, ask. People often wonder about the difference between a registered tour guide and a licensed tour operator, or about how our permit guide relates to the trekking and mountaineering regulations. We can explain what a page says and where its information comes from.
Suggestions for new pages
Got a valley, lake, festival, dish or practical topic you think we should cover? Let us know. We can only publish what we can check against a source, so a source with your suggestion helps a lot.
General travel orientation
We can point you to the right section of the site for your question — whether that’s the best time to visit, getting to Gilgit-Baltistan, packing, local currency and cash or visitor customs and dress.
What we can’t help with
Knowing this beforehand will save you time.
- Bookings and payments. We don’t sell tours, rooms, transport or permits, and we can’t hold, change or cancel a booking you made elsewhere. Contact the business directly.
- Permits and licences. We don’t issue trekking permits, mountaineering permits, national park entry, archaeology NOCs or tourism business licences. See obtaining DTS licences, national park visit regulations and applying for an archaeological survey NOC for the offices involved.
- Live road and weather status. We can’t confirm whether a road or pass is open today. Our alerts carry dated advisories, but on the day you travel, check current conditions with the official authorities, your driver or your accommodation.
- Emergencies. If you’re in danger, injured, or need urgent help, don’t wait for a reply from us. Our guide to contacting the tourist police explains how to get help in Gilgit-Baltistan.
- Disputes with businesses. We can’t step in between a traveller and a hotel, guesthouse or operator. For licensed tourism businesses, the regulating office is the right place to raise a complaint.
- Endorsements. We won’t tell you that one hotel or operator is “the best”. Our listings are directory records, not rankings.
What to include in your message
A clear first message usually gets a faster, more useful reply. Please include:
- The page address if your message is about a page, for example the full link to the Hunza Valley page.
- What you think is wrong or missing, in a sentence or two.
- Your source, if you have one: an official notice, a department page, or your own recent first-hand visit, with the date.
- Your travel context, if it’s a travel question: rough dates, how many people, whether you’re driving or flying, and the districts you’re thinking about.
- How you’d like us to reply: email or phone.
Example of a helpful correction
“On your Deosai page the opening date is shown for 2026. I visited on [date] and the checkpoint said [detail]. Here is the notice I saw: [link].”
Example of a helpful travel question
“We’re a family of four driving from Islamabad in early October. We have eight days and want Hunza and one lake. Which of your pages should we read for roads and timing?”
Questions to ask before you write
Sometimes the answer is already on the site. Before you send a message, these pages cover the questions we hear most often:
- “Which airport should I fly into?” See airports serving Gilgit-Baltistan.
- “Is the road safe to drive myself?” See travel smart, stay safe and road approaches.
- “How do I find a licensed operator?” See hiring a tour operator and the tour operator listings.
- “Do I need a permit for this trek?” See applying for trekking and mountaineering permits.
- “Can I camp anywhere?” See camping regulations.
- “Is it safe?” See travel safety guidance.
- “Where can I stay?” See where to stay and the accommodation options overview.
Response expectations
We’re a small information website, not a call centre or a booking desk, so please be patient with us.
- We don’t promise a fixed response time. We try to read every message, but replies can take a while — especially at the height of the summer season.
- Corrections take longer than quick questions. Before we change a page, we check the new information against a source. If we can’t verify it, we may not change the page, and we’ll tell you why if we can.
- We may not reply to every message. Messages that ask us to book something, promote a business, or rank one company over another may not get a reply.
- Our replies are information, not official advice. Anything we tell you about permits, licences, fees or roads should be confirmed with the issuing office or the authorities before you act on it.
If your question is time-sensitive — you’re travelling tomorrow, for example — contact your operator, accommodation or the relevant authority directly instead of waiting for us.
Checking an operator or guide before you pay
A lot of messages ask us whether a particular company or guide is “real”. We can tell you what our own listing says and where it came from, but we can’t confirm someone’s current licence. Licence status changes. The Directorate of Tourist Services keeps separate official directories for licensed tour operators and licensed guides, and that’s the place to check. You can also ask the business to show its current licence certificate. Our guide to registered tour guides explains how the two directories differ.
For tourism businesses
If you run a hotel, guesthouse, resort or tour company and you see your business on this site, here’s how our listings work:
- Lodging and operator pages are built from official tourism department and Directorate of Tourist Services material. Read more on our about page.
- If your listing details are out of date — a name change or a change in licence status, for example — send us a link to the current official record. We update listings from official sources, not from promotional copy.
- Listings are based on official records, not promotional copy, and we don’t publish prices, facilities, ratings or reviews that we can’t verify.
- If you’re applying for or renewing a licence, start with obtaining DTS licences and hotel and guesthouse regulations. Then contact the Directorate of Tourist Services directly.
Keep your personal information safe
For your privacy and security, please don’t send passwords, payment card details, bank information, passport copies, CNIC images, visa documents or other sensitive personal information by email, phone or message. We don’t need any of them to answer a question about the website. No form on this website is a permit or visa application. Our privacy page has more detail.
Frequently asked questions
What is the phone number for Gilgit-Baltistan Tourism?
The website’s contact number is 03462559008, or +92 346 2559008 from outside Pakistan. It’s for general enquiries about the website and its content. It isn’t a booking line or an emergency number.
What is the email address?
Our email is esd.shigri110@gmail.com. Email is the best way to send corrections, source links and detailed questions.
Can you book a tour, hotel or permit for me?
No. We don’t sell, book or issue anything. Contact a licensed operator or the property directly, and get the price, inclusions and cancellation terms in writing before you pay.
How long does it take to get a reply?
We don’t promise a fixed response time. We try to read every message, but replies can take time, and corrections take longer because we check them against a source first. For anything urgent, contact the relevant authority or your travel provider directly.
Who should I contact in an emergency?
Contact the local authorities, not this website. Our guide to contacting the tourist police explains how to find help in Gilgit-Baltistan. Save the official numbers before you set off.
How do I send a correction?
Email us the page address, a sentence or two on what looks wrong, and your source if you have one — an official notice, a department page, or your own recent visit with the date. We check corrections against a source before we change a page, so a solid source speeds things up.
Can you confirm whether an operator or guide is licensed?
We can tell you what our listing says and where it came from, but we can’t confirm anyone’s current licence. The Directorate of Tourist Services keeps separate official directories for licensed operators and licensed guides. Check there, and ask the business to show its current licence certificate.
Can you tell me if a road or pass is open today?
No. We can’t confirm live road or weather status. Our alerts carry dated advisories, but on the day you travel, check current conditions with the official authorities, your driver or your accommodation.
I run a business listed on your site. How do I update the listing?
Send a link to the current official record that shows the change — a new name or a change in licence status, for example. We update listings from official sources, not from promotional copy, and we don’t publish prices, facilities or ratings we can’t verify.
Should I send passport or CNIC copies with my question?
No. Please don’t send passport copies, CNIC images, visa documents, card details or passwords by email or phone. We don’t need them to answer a question about the website, and no form here is a permit or visa application.
